Hey everyone. It’s Sunday, so it’stime for my tip for the week.
This week, I want to mention not being afraid to be yourself and doing what’s best for you. I know we’ve all heard this many times before, but if we keep hearing it, that means it hasn’t sunk in yet. I chose this topic for the week on experience (as always).
At my job, my hours were pretty crappy. Somedays I’d open, then I’d close, then I might be a mid-shift. That left me with hardly anytime to work out- and we all know how much I love to work out. So, when I was asked to switch departments to an EASIER job, NO customer contact and BETTER hours I was excited to accept. However, I thought that I didn’t want to upset my current boss by having her try and find a replacement for me. Well, that thought lasted about 2 seconds. I then began to think about what I told her when I got hired. I told her my situation and she continued to do what was best for her and her department- as everyone does. So, if it’s ok for everyone else to do it, then it’s ok for me to do so as well.
Needless to say, she was upset, but there’s nothing she can do about it. I made my decision and there’s no changing that.
So, don’t be afraid to speak up for what you want because closed mouths don’t get fed. Everyone is out for #1 as well as you should be.
Have a great week everyone :)
